Winter Quarterly Newsletter
A Note from our President…
It is a pleasure to write this quarterly newsletter. We have just completed a full year of mission fulfillment.
I am very happy to report that, with a surge at year-end we raised about $5,000 and distributed about $2,700. We are well placed to continue our work. We distributed funds to these organizations, among others:
- City Kids, Washington, DC …which strives to enrich life experiences for DC youth through long term engagement, outdoor adventures, and experiential education.
- Compass Path …which empowers and equips students through programs that focus on identity-formation through summer and year-round programs.
- Glacier Peak Institute in western Washington …which empowers youth to build sustainable rural communities.
- Wilderness Journeys ...which leads day hikes or multi-day backpacking trips for people of all faiths or no faiths to experience the wilderness with the Divine.
- Mountain Seed Foundation …which heals children affected by conflict in their home countries, in this case Ukraine, through a variety of veteran-led mountain-based programs that are combined with tailored therapy.
- Land Acknowledgements. Through a partnership with Wilderness Journeys we contributed $450 (9 contributions at $50 each) to organizations in territories traversed by Wilderness Journey treks.
At a recent Board Meeting, we reviewed our growing success, and we set plans for both fund-raising and distributions. We know that fulfilling our mission is dependent on our ability to raise funds. We are grateful for smaller monthly contributions as well as larger annual gifts. For more information about our current and past giving, please see our 2023 Annual Report.
If you wish to support our work please consider making a gift of any size through our website – wildernesswaysfoundation.org – or by sending a check to our Treasurer:

The young who are growing, maturing, and, perhaps, healing… folks who are facing life with reflection…and people of any age who are in awe of the wilderness will be grateful.
Best Wishes …
Jim Hopkins
